shorten links, join the madhouse

Yes - you have to jump into the maelstrom, if you wanna stay tuned to all the tweets and tweaks nowadays. Recently I wondered, if I'd stumbled inmidst some noname-conspiracy of long sought after extremists, plotting to take over world domination by exchanging mystical codes like e45Uuf and hjl42iK, which sounded surely talibanian to me....

The magic key was "tiny url"-ing via bit.ly or other new hip web2.0 spawns that we never ever would have dreamed about in our worst nightmares, but which seem today to be the most essential repair-kits to keep our information-networks together. "Can't follow you on twitter, last entry in your facebook-profile was 2 hours ago - are you still alive?"

Whaa I cried, please wake up ... and gave in and tried the URL-shortener bit.ly, before my virtual friends started to sell my bequest on ebay.

To begin with: Not that I'm in dire need to have now my short url to my homepage http://bit.ly/crh-web, as I rarely tweet (haven't got the hang of it). But guess what - as soon as I have shared my first tiny url for my phantasmagorical annotation blog (bit.ly/crh-blog1), in the same second I had clicks from the US, Corea and "other countries".

Now I'm sitting in the dark, windows obfuscated, as it either be homeland security guys in the J.Edgar Hoover building following me due to possible terroristic intentions on my behalf, and e45Uuf and hjl42iK really stand for 'suicide bomber' and 'my knickers are wet' in taliban, or some weirdos in Corea planning to take over my computer by those keywords (given that bit.ly and alikes have in fact been developed by North-Corean spyware armies) to plot aforesaid world domination via my hijacked email-, google- and e-banking accounts, which would eventually bring the homeland security guys from Nebraska Avenue Complex (oh - they are not in the J.Edgar Hoover building? maybe that's why the warnings of the latest attacks to western civilisation were not understood in time) to bring me down anyway.

What was so wrong with the old-fashioned snail-mail from years past, which took too long to be delivered in time to support any plans of terroristic action, and anyhow would be radiographed by the average postal officer in search of money or indecent news (so no need for FBI-track hounds there).
I would start ten times over writing letters, because I'm constantly in lack of right words, but at least I would not send the first nine failed attempts, which today is no bother for me at all, coz if e-mails are sent that quickly, I reckon the addressee must be able to cope with all the wrong starts (and actually, deleting a draft email would take longer that simply sending it anyway). And I 'm rather sure, that my letter wouldn't be multiplied by the millionth to spam all carefree passers-by of any POs west of Scheibbs (Austria) or misused for installing malicious code on unprotected mailboxes standing alongside the roads to so many harmless houses and unknowning farms.

So - if after all this you still want to check out my homepage or blog (which is - er- this page as a matter of fact), then be bold, brave and daring: go click on http://bit.ly/crh-web and http://bit.ly/crh-blog1.

The end is nigh?

What has happened to the world lately?

No matter where I look, there's evil, hatred and stupidity abound, be it political dumbness in one's own county, or outrageous injustice to democratic thinking people abroad, be it looting amongst the poorest after catastrophy has hit or giving away all our human rights with a smile, all in the sake of war against terror.

Seems to me, that we all are heading towards a climax, which would prove the Mayan calendar wrong in saying that there will be an end of a cycle in 2012, not the end of the world. Latter seems more probable nowadays.

So what I'm ranting about is following: is it politically correct to kindle some optimism despite all the facts against it? Is it safe to search for a laughter here and then, amidst all cruelties served by the media? Should we shed some light on the small things that are happening to us these days, that are actually good?

I'd say yes, because otherwise we wouldn't be able to find strength to fight against the adversities around us. And fight them we must.

So - laugh at horror, grin against opression, smile above the cajoleries of famine and death, at least try. Maybe it helps when you think, that those next to you might be struggling the same line, and a paired smile is a better beginning than you hoped for. And maybe they will gain momentum....

If not, than at least you had a better time in trying, than resigning right from the start.
